High School Mock Trial Program Showing Success

Karr Tuttle Campbell shareholder Paul Richard Brown led the King’s High School Mock Trial team to the Washington State Championships in March, stopping just short of winning the state title.  Several King’s students were recognized for their excellence during the competition.  Mason Hudon was named “Best Witness” and four other King’s students were nominated for “Best Attorney” in the preliminary rounds.  In the championship round against Seattle Preparatory, King’s students Kenden Campbell and Gabrielle Morris were named “Best Witness” and “Best Attorney,” respectively.  These designations are determined by a vote from the attorney raters.  This year’s season, the program’s third, ended in a second-place finish at State, with Seattle Preparatory taking the title.  The Program’s inaugural season in 2011 ended in a 20th place finish, and last year King’s finished third.

At the Snohomish County District Competition, the King’s Mock Trial team took the title for the first time this year.  In that competition, King’s student Madison Shinn tied two other students for “Best Attorney.”

The Program gives its participants the chance to experience a courtroom atmosphere, helping them to develop skills in oral advocacy, independent critical thinking, and trial presentation skills.
